About the Chair

baden-badener unternehmensgespraecheThe Wilfried Guth Endowed Chair for Constitutional Political Economy and Competition Policy was endowed to the University of Freiburg in 2011 by "Baden-Baden Enterpreneurs' Talks". The chair serves to advance research and teaching activities within the field of European and international constitutional political economy and competition policy in the ordoliberal tradition of the "Freiburg School". Its research focus lies primarily on the theoretical and applied economic policy issues of European integration and globalization.

wilfried guthThe chair is named after Dr. Wilfried Guth, longstanding chairman of the holding company overseeing the Baden-Baden Enterpreneurs' Talks and spokesman of the board at Deutsche Bank. Throughout his life, Wilfried Guth was a dedicated advocate of market principles, having been encouraged to study economics by his uncle, former German Chancellor and Minister of Economics Ludwig Erhard.
