Special Issue of Homo Oeconomicus on „The Political Economy of Land Grabbing“


Large-scale land acquisitions in developing countries by domestic and transnational companies, governments, and individuals, commonly referred to as “land grabbing”, is an increasingly observed phenomenon, especially after the 2008 global rise in food prices. While different disciplines, ranging from ethnology over sociology to political science, have intensively dealt with the causes and consequences of land grabbing, scholars of political economy have remained conspicuously silent.

Homo Oeconomicus, an interdisciplinary and international peer-reviewed quarterly
journal, is planning to bundle research in the field in a special issue on

The Political Economy of Land Grabbing

We invite interested potential authors to submit a non-binding letter of intent,
specifying the possible research question and method, by February 28, 2014.

If a sufficient number of potential contributions is received, we would invite
contributions until June 30, 2014.
